Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of providing goat manure compost on the growth and yield of baby corn (Zea mays L.) plants. This research was carried out at the Semambu Village Experimental Garden, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research was carried out from July 2023 to September 2023. The research method used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 5 (five) treatments and 5 (five) replications. Each experimental treatment consisted of 30 plants, so the number of plants studied was 750 plants. The number of samples studied in an experiment was 5 (five) sample plants. The treatments studied were P0 : 0 control (without compost), P1 : 10 tonnes/ha of goat manure compost (6 kg/plot). P2: 20 tons/ha of goat manure compost (12 kg / plot), P3: 30 tons/ha of goat manure compost (18 kg / plot) and P4: 40 tons/ha of goat manure compost (24 kg / plot). The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), length of cobs without husks (cm), diameter of cobs without husks (mm), ear weight per cob without husks (g) and yield per harvest plot with husks (kg). Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that giving a dose of goat manure compost has a very good effect on the growth and yield of baby corn plants. Treatment P2 (20 tons/ha) produced the highest plant height of 102.40 cm, the highest number of leaves was 9.68 at 28 days after planting, produced the highest cob length without husks per plant of 15.60 cm, the highest diameter of cobs without husks per plant 18 .70 mm, the highest cob weight per cob without husks was 49.52 g and the highest yield per husked plot was 2.36 kg.
